ISMM 47 Anniversary celebrated at Water’s Edge

The 47th Anniversary of ISMM was celebrated with a grand banquet at the Water’s Edge Hotel recently where over 150 members participated.

The Chief Guest at the occasion was Capt Athula Hewavitharana, Managing Director of Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the Guest of Honour was Prof V. Sivalogathasan, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies, Open University of Sri Lanka. The event was organised and co-ordinated by the Seminars & Functions Committee headed by Vice President Jayantha Gallehewa.

The Institute of Supply and Materials Management established in October 1972 completed 47 years of service to the supply chain profession and students in the supply chain field. ISMM was incorporated by Act of Parliament No 3 in 1981.

In 1990 ISMM was affiliated to the The International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) encompasses 45 national associations comprising 250,000 members worldwide. In recognition of its expertise ISMM was able to obtain the membership of the Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) the apex body of all professional institutes in Sri Lanka. ISMM is also registered under the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission and is affiliated to the International Trade Centre (ITC) Geneva and holds the franchise to conduct MLS Supply Chain Programmes which includes the International Diploma in Supply Chain Management.

Since its inception ISMM has served the industry for over four and a half decades and has produced well over 18,000 supply chain professionals now serving locally as well as in many prestigious organisations overseas.
