A set of sport stars winning accolades for the country internationally said Sajith Premadasa should be the next president of the country as he is the most suitable candidate to take the country forward to empower unprivileged people.

They were speaking to the media yesterday at the NDF election operations office in Colombo.

Sri Lanka’s para-athlete Amara Indumathi who obtained several international medals said that she underwent severe hardships when participating in training sessions as she did not have a house in Colombo.

As soon as she brought this to the notice of Housing and Construction Minister Saijth Premadasa, he took measures to offer a house, she said.

Sachintha Kodikara who obtained many international medals including the Asia medal in karate, said that she also faced difficulties due to having no proper home in the Colombo area.

When she brought this situation to Premadasa’s attention, he offered her a house so she could continue her sports easily.

Kodikara said Premadasa who has humanitarian qualities and is capable of empathising with the burdens of the people, should be the next president as he can provide more efficient service to the sports sector and the country as well.

Several other sport stars while addressing media highlighted that Premadasa is the ideal person to take the country forward.
