Warning to SLFPers attending Organisation to Protect SLFP meeting

SLFP threatens action against Chandrika-led faction

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to take disciplinary action against the SLFPers who participate at the convention of the “Organization to Protect the SLFP” scheduled to be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium under the patronage of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga today, SLFP Media Spokesman MP Weerakumara Dissanayake said.

Addressing the media at the SLFP Headquarters yesterday, MP Dissanayake said that the “TNA, MP Rauff Hakeem, MP Rishad Bathiudeen and former President Chandrika Kumaratunga have united to fulfill a contract of the UNP and the name of the organization formed by former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga should be changed as the Organization to Protect the UNP,” the MP said.

He further said that there is no need to have a separate plan to protect the Sri Lanka Freedom Party since the party has a strong leadership to do that.

MP Dissanayake said the decision to support SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa had been taken for the betterment of the country.

“The behaviour of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, the TNA, Hakeem and Rishad is the outcome of the secret meeting convened on October 5 at a private residence in Kollupitiya to map its strategy to sabotage SLFP-SLPP unity,” Weerakumara alleged.

He further alleged that the masterminds who attended the meeting had three separate plans for the North, East and South. So the TNA is now implementing the plan for the North. Rishad and Hakeem is implementing the plan for the East and Chandrika is implementing the plan for the South which was to engineer internal conflicts within the SLFP to break its unity.

He appealed to all SLFPers not to attend this convention.

He further added that President Maithripala Sirisena will remain neutral in order to ensure the national security and other normal activities of the country. Acting SLFP Chairman Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa also addressed the occasion.
