Eelam flag raising Perumal now supports Gota – Mangala

Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera has pointed out that TNA leader R Sampanthan who upholds the national flag is supporting NDF Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa to unite the country but EPRLF leader Varadaraja Perumal who raised the Eelam flag in Trincomalee is now supporting SLPP presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Addressing a youth rally in Matara on Sunday, Samaraweera reminded his audience that the TNA has been working with the UNP for national unity for a long time recalled that the TNA leader  was on the UNP May Day stage in Jaffna in 2015 with a national flag in his hand.

He charged that SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has joined with the EPRLF leader who, in 1990, passed a resolution declaring an independent state of Eelam after being appointed as Chief Minister of the combined North and Eastern province.

“The majority of parties in the Tamil National Alliance have official announced their support to Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa”, he said.

He said that former North-East Chief Minister Perumal, who hoisted the Elam flag in the country for the first time is now with the SLPP presidential candidate to make him victorious.

Samaraweera added that former LTTE leader Karuna Amman, who had ordered the killing of 600 police officers in the Eastern Province in 1990 was also with the SLPP presidential candidate.

“This person in question has allegedly ordered the assassination of Buddhist monks in Aranthalawa too”, he said

He said that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is portrayed as a true patriot, had recently visited TVMP leader Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan in jail. Pillayan is allegedly responsible for forcibly enlisting thousands of innocent youths in the Easter province for the LTTE.

“The UNP was targeted by several factions with vested interests for not taking action to close the Batticaloa campus for the past several months. But now the campus owned by former Easter Province Governor M.L.A.M. Hisbullah says that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa deserves the second vote.
