The Police Narcotics Bureau has deployed two new robots for the detection of drugs and explosives at the Bandaranaike International Airport for the first time in its history.

The two robots are stationed at the airport’s departure and arrival terminals. This measure has been taken to ensure the careful inspection of baggage and other equipment in the vicinity.

Each one of these robots is worth Rs. 80 million and has been donated by the Chinese government.

The robots also have a technology that can detect explosives, the Ministry of Defence said.
