Yohan bags Bronze medal

Yohan Danushaka Croospulle (30), of the Sri Lankan Catering (pvt) Ltd, won a bronze medal for his sugar art creation at the Culinary Art Competition held parallel to ‘Culinary Art Food Expo 2019: Hospitality, Food and Beverage Exhibition’ at BMICH from October 21-23.

Croospulle’s sugar art creation depicted an anchor on the sea bed covered with sea weeds and marine creatures. It received the bronze medal from the ‘Artistic Showpiece’ category. Croospulle, who is more into cake decorations, said this was the first time he presented a sugar art creation for a competition.

He had won several international accolades for cake decorations, including Silver and Merit medals in a cake competition in Birmingham in England in 2013, a Silver Medal at a Cake and Bake Show at ‘ExCeL London’ in 2014, the ‘Best in the Show’ Award at a cake competition in Italy in 2015 and a Gold Medal at a cake show in Australia in 2018.

Croospulle has followed a course at R L Clement Cake Decorating School and has previously worked in Italy. He said he was willing to further learn and excel in sugar art and promote it in Sri Lanka.
