SLPP-SLFP coalition holds winning force today – MR

Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said that SLFP-SLPP coalition is the biggest and strongest force in Sri Lanka today.

He was addressing the gathering after opening the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa election office at Agunakolapelessa recently.

Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike and D.A. Rajapaksa formed the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

He said a separate party was formed after leaving SLFP and it was Chandrika Bandaranaike and Vijaya Kumaratunga who formed another party.

“Today housing schemes are set up destroying monuments of archaeological value. This should be brought to an end. He said Gotabaya is capable of safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and integrity.

“The purpose of the judiciary is decisive to create a law-abiding society. The judiciary must not be obstructed by the administration. The country should stand together to eradicate all forms of terror and violence and to maintain peace and coexistence,” Rajapaksa said.

“After defeating the LTTE, we have been safeguarding the peace of the country for 10 years. But bombs were blasted at churches in the country during this government,” he said.

Rajapaksa said Gotabaya led the war to victory and beautified and developed Colombo and made it a clean city. He will protect the country from every type of terrorism if he becomes the next president of the country, he said.
