November 15 a school holiday in view of polls

The Ministry of Education yesterday announced that all government schools in the country will be closed on November 15 in view of the Presidential Election on November 16.

The Ministry said that November 15 has been declared a holiday for all government schools in the country to facilitate the process of holding the Presidential polls on November 16.

A majority of the schools in the country are expected to be used as polling centres and counting centres.

Some of the schools which are expected to be used as counting centres are as follows: D.S. Senanayake (Colombo), Royal College (Colombo), Vidyaloka College (Gampaha), Museus College (Kaluthara-North), Kandy Model School (Kandy), Christ Church National School (Matale), Gamini National School (Nuwara Eliya), St. Aloysius College (Galle), Sujatha College (Matara), Suchi National School (Hambantota), Central College (Jaffna), Hindu College (Batticaloa), Sir John Kothalawala College (Kurunegala), Maliyadewa Boy’s College (Kurunegala), St. Andrew’s Central College (Puttalam), Fathima Ladies College (Puttalam), Sheinan Primary College (Puttalam), Central College (Anuradhapura), Central College (Badulla), Vishaka Ladies College (Badulla), Royal College (Moneragala), Swarna Jayanthi Central College (Kegalle), and Ladies College (Kegalle).

The Education Ministry said today that all government schools will be closed on November 15 due to Presidential Elections, which falls on the following day.
