LOT Polish Airlines commence direct flights from Poland to Colombo

Giving a boost of the Sri Lanka Tourism sector, LOT Polish Airlines will operate direct flights to Colombo from Warsaw from November 4. The first inaugural flight of LOT Polish Airlines’ to Sri Lanka is scheduled to arrive at 4.15 a.m.

Poland’s flag carrier LOT will operate three flights per week between Colombo and Warsaw deploying a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight up to March 28. LOT will fly seasonally three times a week from November to March.

Colombo will be LOT’s 6th long-haul Asian destination for LOT and Heyleys Aviation (TIC) will be the GSA for the airline. Annually, more than 1.8 million passengers travel between Europe and Colombo.

The Ambassador for Poland Iwona Woicka-Zulowska stated that the launch of this flight would lead to an increased flow of tourists to Sri Lanka from Poland and hoped that it would lead to an increased flow of passengers from Sri Lanka to Poland as well.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka Arusha Cooray mentioned that this reinforced the strong and enduring relationship, between Sri Lanka and Poland, which spanned over 60 years. She further stated that the introduction of this direct route was expected to increase the flow of tourists and business passengers, and strengthen economic cooperation including trade, investment, finance, educational and cultural linkages between Sri Lanka and Poland. The passengers and crew arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and will be welcomed by the TIC Officers of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
