The law will be exercised equally for everyone to strengthen the social, economic, political, and cultural equity. More over this is a journey to protect human rights.”

He noted that everyone had joined a journey which would bring prosperity to the country. The aim is to create a knowledge-based economy in the country and to form the environment to produce knowledgeable and educated citizens.

Premadasa added that this new movement intended to begin an era of economic transformation era which would create a knowledge based and export based economy.

“Simultaneously, new technology will be introduced to many sectors, especially to the manufacturing and agriculture sectors,” he noted. He added that utmost attention will be paid to public welfare and therefore people will be benefit from all these measures.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe told the gathering that the people who wanted to create a democratic disciplined country had gathered behind the NDF in this new alliance. Unlike the previous regime the present government created a just society, in which no person or journalist is abducted or killed.

‘Everyone is enjoying their democratic rights including freedom of expression, right to information and much more. We formed this NDF with the assistance of democracy-friendly political parties and organisations with a view to strengthening and protecting these gains,” he said.
