Navy assists apprehension of two persons with cannabis

The Navy and Police Special Task Force (STF) have apprehended two suspects with 815g of cannabis during a search carried out in Hambantota.  

The Southern Naval Command and Gonnoruwa Police STF, having spotted a suspicious three-wheeler on the road near Hambantota Hospital, had searched the suspected vehicle.

During this search, security personnel found two persons travelling on the three-wheeler and cannabis hidden in the three-wheeler. Accordingly, the suspects were taken into custody.

The suspects have been identified as residents of Katharagama and Hambantota, aged 48 and 64. The apprehended persons along with three-wheeler and cannabis were handed over to the Hambantota Police for onward investigation.
