‘Rs. 7 mn for pre-school teacher training programmes’

A sum of Rs. seven million has been allocated for pre-school teacher training programmes by the government, Children’s Secretariat Director Nayana E. Senarathne yesterday (31) said.

She also said the vision of the Secretariat is to create a physically, psycho-socially and cognitively-developed generation in their early childhood.

The Director was addressing an awareness programme held at the Kurunegala District Secretariat auditorium yesterday, under the theme ‘Children are gems that are to be protected’. Nearly 320 pre-school teachers in the Kurunegala District took part in this programme.

She said a series of such programmes relevant to the overall development of children in their early childhood have been implemented in the Kurunegala District.

This programme was conducted by the Children’s Secretariat of the Women and Child Affairs and Dry Zone Development Ministry.
