Three suspects remanded for treasure hunting

Udugama Magistrate S.L.M.Wijesinghe ordered to remand three suspects until November 1 for treasure hunting in the Malgalla Forest Reserve in Hiniduma.

A cockerel which the suspects had brought to sacrifice to get the treasure was ordered to be released to a woman named Ihalagamage Siriyalatha on a Rs, 5,000 bond.

The suspects Malgalla Hewa Gonnagahawatage Ariyasinghe , Palle Kankanamge Sandaruwan and Salgaduge Indika Kumara Dias were arrested last Saturday by Hiniduma Police, while the suspects were excavating a location in the reserve for treasure.

Several tools and materials were also seized.

Sergeants Pushpa Kumara and Thilakarathe led by Hiniduma Police Crime Branch OIC Dunuwila Bandara carried out the raid under Hiniduma Police OIC Ajith Kumara Pitigala.
