Presidential Candidate and Former Governor Dr. M.L.A.M. Hizbullah invited SLMC Leader and Minister Rauff Hakeem for an open debate over allegations the latter levelled against him in public.
SLMC Leader and Minister Rauff Hakeem alleged in public that Dr. Hizbullah was a traitor and chameleon who betrays his community for his own benefit.
Dr.Hizbullah said SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem has been criticizing him over contesting in the upcoming Presidential Election. Hakeem charged Hizbullah as a traitor and chameleon and he always acts for his own benefits. He also described him as a snake in the box without uttering a word or coming out with any comments and that Hakeem helped him in various ways and rescued him. Dr.Hizbullah said Hakeem accused him of corruption that took place when the Batticaloa Campus was constructed. Dr. Hizbullah said he did not want to make divisions in the community during the election period by replying.
“If Minister Hakeem prepared to debate with me on any day at any time, I will prove my stand,” Hizbullah said.
Dr.Hizbullah said the debate could be held at any time, any place in Ampara.
