JAMES JEBARTNAM RAJANAYAGAM: A devoted gentleman

James was born in Uduvil, Jaffna to Dr. S.S. Rajanayagam and his wife Lily. He was a loyal son and brother to Florence, Josephine and Beatrice.

James was an exceptional student at Jaffna College. He graduated with first class honours and a gold medal in chemistry from the University of Ceylon. James was admitted to the Ceylon Civil Service in 1950.

He resigned as Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Treasury in 1973 to emigrate to Australia. James continued in public service in Sydney until his retirement in 1986.

James was a man of great integrity and high principles. He was a committed Christian, generous and devoted to his family, friends and community. He was accepting of all and never discriminated on race or religion.

James passed away peacefully in Sydney, and will be missed by all who knew him.
