South Asian election monitors invited – EC

The Election Commission has invited South Asian Election monitors from seven south Asian Countries, who are scheduled to arrive in the country, a week before voters head for the Presidential polls, Election Commissioner Director General Saman Sri Ratnayake confirmed.

Speaking to the Daily News, Ratnayake said that in keeping with the practice in the past, election observers have been invited from seven south Asian countries. “They are likely to arrive for a study tour before coming with their own contingents, preferably a week before the elections.”  The South Asian countries include the Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, and South Korea.
