The Producer’s Price Index (PPI) of all economic activities covering: agriculture, manufacturing and water supply & electricity for the month of August reached 134.3. The annual growth rate recorded for the overall PPI is 1.4 per cent.
The PPI reported for the economic activities: agriculture, manufacturing and electricity & water supply sectors are 138.8, 131.3 and 87.7 respectively. Manufacturing and electricity & water supply sectors reported positive annual growth rate of 6.8 percent and 2.9 percent.
Even though, agriculture sector recorded a significant negative growth rate of 9.9 percent in the month of August 2019.
The overall PPI decreased by 0.1 index points from 134.4 index points in July 2019 to 134.3 index points in August 2019.
The overall monthly negative growth rate of 0.1 percent has reported for the month of August 2019. Manufacturing activity recorded a positive growth rate of 0.9 percent.
However, Agriculture sector and Electricity and water supply sector posted negative monthly growth rates of 2.4 percent and 0.1 percent respectively in the month of August 2019 compared to previous month.
