Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, launched the ‘Sri Lanka Pensions App’ in partnership with the Department of Pensions on National Pensioners’ Day at the Nelum Pokuna on October 8, 2019.

This marks the first mobile application in Sri Lanka for retired state sector employees, digitally empowering them to access services from the Department of Pensions.

The pensions app enables the pensioners to view their monthly pension amount and any deductions in real-time, for the current month and the past. Furthermore, pensioners can discover and enjoy exclusive offers from Dialog and partners. Future features of the app include the ability to request additional services such as an official pension statement, electronically launch inquiries to the Department of Pensions, and even request loans and more. Additionally, the app overcomes the need for pensioners to physically visit a Grama Niladhari every year, as life certificate renewals can be done conveniently and easily via the app, resulting in a hassle-free experience for users.

The Sri Lanka Pensions app follows Dialog’s successful Dialog Prashansa mobile postpaid plan, which is provided in partnership with the Department of Pensions. Through Dialog’s Future Connect Forums, Prashansa users have been given the opportunity to augment their skills to use smartphones, the internet, and on how to connect to their loved ones via the responsible use of social media.

Commenting, Supun Weerasinghe, Group Chief Executive of Dialog Axiata PLC said, “We are honoured to facilitate the launch of Sri Lanka’s first app for state pensioners, in a successful public-private partnership with the Department of Pensions and under the Department’s progressive leadership. This follows suit our dedicated Prashansa mobile postpaid plan for government pensioners and underscores our continuous efforts to enrich and empower all segments of Sri Lankan society using digitally inclusive initiatives.

This launch is the most recent initiative of a larger effort to ensure all citizens are digitally literate, and benefit from the increased transparency, convenience and simplification through the smart use of digital technology.”

The Sri Lanka Pensions app is available for download on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. To subscribe to the Dialog Prashansa mobile Postpaid package, pensioners may visit any Dialog Customer Care Centre with their NIC, billing proof and pensioners ID and submit a subscriber application form.
