The opening of the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant at Pottuvilluwa was graced by Nandana Ekanayake, Chairman and CEO of INSEE Cement Sri Lanka; Serefin Bugeja, Manufacturing Director of INSEE Cement Sri Lanka; Chandana Wijayanama, O&HR Director of INSEE Cement Sri Lanka; Udaya Shantha Kumara, Principal, Pottuvilluwa School; Rev. Amal Raj representing Divisional Education Assistant Director; Ajith Chamara, Public Health Inspector, Palavi and Sarath Bandara, Principal, Medananda School and INSEE Plant & CSR team officials.

INSEE Cement Sri Lanka Chairman and CEO, Nandana Ekanayake commented “As the producer of INSEE Sanstha cement, we take pride in nurturing the community around our Puttalam Cement Plant and have been launching projects that have benefited schools in the district. This is the third school INSEE Cement has supported with safe and clean drinking water to the school children as a part of our Company’s ongoing CSR initiatives to benefit the communities in the district. In the previous years, we supported Bandaranayakapura School in Wanathavilluwa and Medananda School in Attawilluwa, Puttalam.

We plan to continue to support a school every year, and continue to make a meaningful contribution to mark the Children’s Day.”

The Company opened a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant to provide clean drinking water as the water in the area contains hard particles such as Calcium and Magnesium deposits that impact on human health resulting in illnesses that may take as much as 15 to 20 years to manifest and be diagnosed. The RO water treatment plant was identified by the Company’s Community Advisory Panel as a suitable CSR initiative to mark the Children’s Day and benefit not only the school children, but the teachers and their parents living in Pottuvilluwa, Puttalam.
