St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa and Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo emerged overall champions in the 15th R.M.P.de Silva Memorial Inter-schools Age Category Swimming Championship worked off at the Dharmashoka College swimming complex recently.
Sebs accumulated 473 points while Visakhians earned 373 points to reign supreme at the meet.
The event was organized by the Sports Foundation and 917 swimmers from 62 schools participated. Age category events for boys and girls (U-9, U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19) worked off at the tournament. Hosts Dharmashoka College secured the overall boys' and girls' second place while Devananda College, Ambalangoda won the boys' overall third place. Dolphin Swimming and Life Saving Club, Wennappuwa won the girls' overall third place. National swimming champion Navy's T. Tilan Kumara was the chief guest at the award ceremony and Dharmashoka principal Kesara Wittimuni was also among the guests.
