41st Prof. Senaka Bibile commemoration tomorrow

The 41st death anniversary of Prof. Senaka Bibile, who played a leading role against the pharmaceutical mafia, fell on September 29.

The The 41st Prof. Senaka Bibile commemoration, organized by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation will be held at 3.00 pm tomorrow at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.

Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne will be the Chief Guest at the event.

Although the pharmaceutical mafia didn’t allow Prof. Senaka Bibile to implement his drug policy, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, who was one of Prof. Senaka Bibile’s students fulfilled the wishes of his mentor by implementing his drug policy.

Prof. Bibile took the lead in the struggle to free the country from the clutches of the pharmaceutical mafia.

He came up with a drug policy and a plan to produce drugs in Sri Lanka. Although his drug policy was commended by many nations, it was only implemented in Sri Lanka several decades after his death.

This event is held at a moment when the pharmaceutical mafia is again attempting to push back the transformation that took place in the last few years.

The keynote speech of tomorrow’s event will be conducted by Prof. Indika Mahesh Karunathilaka, senior lecturer at the Medical faculty - University of Colombo. SPC Chairman, Dr. Rumi Mohammad invites you all to take part in the event to learn more about Prof. Senaka Bibile and his aspirations.
