PM AT MIHINTALE SACRED AREA PINKAMA

The historic Mihintale Sacred Area was declared a ‘National Heritage’ yesterday with the participation of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at a national ‘Pinkama’ to mark the ‘Parinirvanaya’ (passing away) of Most Ven Anubudu Mihindu Himi. An alms giving was held near ‘Sela Chithiya’ of Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya for 1,500 Buddhist monks. Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya Chief Prelate Most Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawasa Nayake Thera presided. The event was conducted with the blessings of Minhintale Raja Maha Viharaya Chief Incumbent Ven. Dr. Walawahangunawewe Dhammarathana Nayake Thera. This event was conducted with state patronage after a long period. The ‘Dinamina’ and ‘Budusarana’ publications of the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) provided print media patronage.
