On the sidelines of the International Coastal Cleanup Day, the Navy conducted another beach cleaning programme in the Southeastern Naval Command on Wednesday (2), the Navy Media Unit said in a media release.

Accordingly, the Southeastern Naval Command cleaned a 3km-long beach area from Panama beech to its lagoon. A group of children and teachers from Panama Maha Vidyalaya also joined this effort. As a result of the dedication of naval personnel, they were able to restore the beauty of the beaches, which were heavily polluted by natural causes and human activities.

Following the directives of Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the Navy has been performing a commendable job to transform the polluted coastal belt around the island into a beautiful one. As a result, both local and foreign tourists often frequent such beaches.
