‘Sri Lankan MICE Promotion’ events held in India

The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), in collaboration with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Chennai, organised the Sri Lankan MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) Promotion events in Chennai and Bangalore on September 16 and 18, respectively. A 15-member delegation led by SLCB Chairman Kumar de Silva participated in the event.

The programme was held with an aim to familiarise Sri Lanka as a cost-efficient and attractive destination for global conferences, corporate events, and wedding ceremonies.

Further, these events gave more opportunities for representatives of the MICE tourism sector from both countries to establish direct cooperation with each other; to learn more about the respective markets and to explore opportunities for mutual contribution towards further growth of the number of Indian MICE tourists visiting Sri Lanka.

Deputy Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India, V. Krishnamoorthy, said that Sri Lanka is not a virgin market for Indian tourists; however, in MICE segments, India has not fully exploited Sri Lanka’s potential on the sector.

Therefore, he encouraged Indian MICE tour operators and Sri Lankan companies to work together as they represent one of the major ties between the two countries.
