President inaugurates several projects under Pibidemu Polonnaruwa initiative

President Maithripala Sirisena participated in several development programmes launched under the Pibidemu Polonnaruwa initiative on Wednesday, the President’s Media Division said in a press release.

A building constructed at a cost of Rs.5.5 million at the Kumudupura Primary School was one of the projects the President inaugurated that day. He also distributed stationery to the school library.

President Sirisena later inaugurated another building at the Hingurakgoda Pahala Ambagaswewa Sri Rahula Junior School, which was set up a cost of Rs.5.6 million.

He also opened a dhamma school which cost Rs.2.8 million at the Medirigiriya Sri Jayabimbarama Vihara. Medirigiriya Sri Jayabimbarama Vihara Chief Incumbent Ven. Methagama Somananda Thera, the Maha Sangha, and North-Central Province Governor Saratha Ekanayake were present at the event.

The President also donated Rs.500,000 for the surgery of a patient in Medirigiriya named Dilan Madusanka. President Maithripala Sirisena also inaugurated a monastery set up at a cost of Rs.7.4 million at the Saraswathi Pirivena in Medirigiriya.

Thamankaduwa Chief Prelate Ven. Minuwangamuwe Gunarathana Thera and Sucharithawardhanarama Vihara Chief Incumbent Ven. Erunkade Vinayalankara Thera were also present at the event.
