Uni Dil was able to bag 5 gold awards out of 6 quality circles at the Annual National Convention of Quality and Productivity held at “Nelum Pokuna”, which was organized by Sri Lanka Association of Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP).

Uni Dil has won many accolades during last two decades at this convention. Uni Dil is the leader of packaging industry of the island, manufacturing corrugated cartons and paper sacks to the industrial sector in the country.

The company is endeavored to produce high quality packaging solutions at the lowest cost to maintain the competitive edge of the company. Hence, right through out, during last two decades, the company had been implementing various quality and productivity enhancement tools and good practices.

Uni Dil has created a culture in which whole work force is working together as a family to achieve the goals of the company and its employees. Uni Dil has successfully implemented 5S, Quality Circles, Continuous Improvement Projects, TPM Projects and Just In Time (JIT) practices to improve the employee participation in the organizational activities.

The endeavor of Uni Dil towards quality and productivity has been demonstrated by the company wining Taiki Akimoto 5’S’ Award, the Nagaaki Yamamoto Kaizen Award, National Productivity Awards and the Best CEO’s Awards among a host of other awards.

CEO/Director of Uni Dil, Bannet Gamalath said “We are incredibly proud and honoured to have been recognized with these prestigious awards. Uni Dil employs a work force of around 400 staff and caters around 20% of the corrugated carton requirements of the country. Further, Its paper sacks operations hold a market share over 35% in the Tea, Cement, DC and other related paper sack markets”.

By implementing quality and productivity tools and through development of work force, Uni Dil has overcome the challenge of delivering cartons & paper sacks within a very short period to fulfill urgent needs of customers.

Uni Dil has introduced Quality Circle concept almost two decades ago and consequently, the employees have been given an opportunity to participate in the process of development of the organization. Uni Dil employees are involved in providing KAIZEN suggestions towards the improvements and over 1,000 suggestions are generating each year. Through TPM projects, Uni Dil has been able to improve the machine efficiency and running time. Further, Uni Dil has implemented management concepts such as Six Sigma and many other concepts to improve quality and productivity.
