Sajith promises to maintain an exemplary leadership

Pledges to donate his allowances, salary for people’s benefit

United National Front (UNF) Presidential candidate, Minister Sajith Premadasa pledged to donate all the allowances and the salary he receives as President for the sake of the poor people of the country.

Speaking to the media in Colombo, he said he promises to maintain an exemplary leadership to the country by ending the era when VIPs spend luxury lives wasting public money.

Former Cabinet Minister Athauda Seneviratne and former Deputy Minister W.B. Ekanayake, who represented Parliament from the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) joined with Minister Premadasa on this occasion to extend their support for the upcoming election.

“Over 45 percent of the people in this country live on a daily wage below Rs. 900 at present. After my election win, I will carry out a development programme with fixed dates to uplift their living conditions thus eliminating the gap between the rich and the poor,” Premadasa added.

During his tenure, Premadasa said there would be no political interference from the government to the judicial activities. “All the legal processes pertaining to fraud and corruption will proceed smoothly and freely,” he said.

He also pledged that his government would dedicate full-time for the elimination of corruption from the country.
