Mahindra Treo electric Three–wheelers to be launched in SL

One of the leading vehicle manufacturers of India Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., Yesterday, announced that their novel production the Electric Three - wheeler ‘Mahindra Treo’ would be introduced to the Sri Lankan market before the end of this year, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., Vice President Sanjay Jadhav said.

He made these remarks to a group of Sri Lankan media, at a conference held in Mumbai, India. The management of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., organized the media conference to create an awareness of the people of Sri Lanka, on the current progress of the Sri Lanka - India vehicle assembling joint venture that commenced at Welipanne in Sri Lanka in August this year.

He further said the on- going progress of the vehicle assembling joint venture between Sri Lanka and India is showing significant progress, resulting in Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., to launch the Mahindra Treo Electric Three wheelers in Sri Lanka.

The vehicle assembling plant in Welipanne is jointly carried out by Ideal Motors Ltd., of Sri Lanka and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., of India.

Vice President Jadhav also highlighted that Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., is a US$ 20.7 billion federation of companies that enables people to rise through innovative mobility solutions, driving rural prosperity, enhancing urban living, nurturing new businesses and fostering communities.

He said Sri Lanka is one of the key strategic growth markets in the company.

“With the inauguration of the company’s first automotive assembly plant in Sri Lanka, we are now fully equipped to deliver our products to the Sri Lankan market, ” he said.

He also mentioned that over the past two decades, Mahindra hasdestablished a strong presence in Sri Lanka with both Ideal Motors and DIMO, with a range of new vehicle products including cars, commercial vehicles, tractors, pickups, buses, vans etc.

He further said that Mahindra’s relationship with the customers of Sri Lanka and partner them in their journey towards progress and prosperity, in line with the Rise philosophy of Mahindra.

Vice President Jadav also mentioned about the April Easter Sunday bomb blast in Sri Lanka and said although it had highly affected the country’s economy, the situation is fast improving and this encouraged us to pay more attention towards strengthening of the on-going vehicle assembling joint venture with Sri Lanka.
