Sajith vows to set up Presidential Task Forces for children, elders

United National Front Presidential candidate and Minister Sajith Premadasa yesterday announced he would set up two Presidential Task Forces dedicated to children and senior citizens respectively after his victory at the presidential election for the implementation of a national plan.

He said plans have already made to bring all pre-schools under the free education system.

Addressing a press conference at the official residence of Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera, UNP Deputy Leader vowed to create a dedicated professional cadre of pre-school teachers who are paid by the government.

Premadasa said when developing the early childhood sector, he will encourage programmes telecast on national channels on early childhood development. “All these programmes will be implemented expeditiously and no programme under my rule will be permitted to have delays,” he said.
