Dengue looms over Kurunegala

Thirty seven dengue patients have been detected in Kurunegala and they are now under treatment at the Kurunegla Teaching Hospital, Director of the hospital Dr. Sarath Weerabandara said.

He was speaking at a press briefing in Kurunegala last week.

He said the hospital treated 82 dengue patients in September. About 639 dengue patients had received treatments from the hospital in the past nine months, he said.

Kurunegala senior Divisional Secretary W.E.Jayatilake said the Health Ministry and the Education Ministry will jointly launch a mosquito eradication program covering schools and offices in Kurunegala in the next two weeks.
