The Elections Commission yesterday extended the deadline for postal voting applications for the upcoming Presidential Election till October 4.
Elections Commission Director General Saman Sri Rathanayake said the extension was made considering the ongoing trade union actions by Railway and other government sector employees and also due to the inclement weather prevailing in the country.
The previous deadline for postal voting applications was yesterday (30). Earlier, applications were called from September 19 to September 30.
The Elections Commission said postal voting for the upcoming Presidential Election will take place on October 30 and 31.
The Elections Commission stated that eligible postal voters should submit their applications to the Returning Officers of the relevant districts on or before October 4.
