Arrest warrant issued on MP Hesha Vithanage

Embilipitiya Magistrate K.P.R.L. Vidanagamage yesterday issued an arrest warrant on Ratnapura district Parliamentarian Hesha Vithanage for absconding court over a case of property misuse.

The Magistrate has ordered the SSP in the area to arrest the Parliamentarian and produce him before court.

The case has been filed against the Parliamentarian for allegedly misusing a property in Embilipitiya belonging to a businessman living in Colombo. The Magistrate issued this order as the accused Parliamentarian had failed to appear in court on two occasions.

Lawyers appearing for MP Vithanage argue that the accused is a Parliamentarian and he is represented by his mother and father.

Counsel appearing for the complainant cited that the accused had failed to appear in court on two consecutive occasions and the accused as a member of the Legislature should respect the law of the country.
