Anti-Malaria Campaign warns of a resurgence

The Anti-Malaria Campaign has warned of a resurgence in the disease due to the prevalence in several countries.

Sri Lanka has been awarded the free from Malaria international certificate in 2016.The Anti-Malaria campaign indicates that the disease carrier mosquito was found again thus making large scale spreading of malaria possible again.

Although there is no immediate thread of malaria infection resulting from such a situation, the growing trend of continuous travelling to and from countries infected with malaria and the presence of the Malaria carrier mosquito in the country has exposed the disease to raise its head again in Sri Lanka, according to the epidemiologists attached to the Anti-Malaria Campaign. Malaria is a fatal and a menacing disease and during the 1933 period where the Malaria epidemic was at its peak about five million in Sri Lanka infected with the disease and nearly 82,000 died.
