GMOA to remove members in North and East

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) is to remove all their members from state hospitals in the North and the East if health authorities do not solve their transfer list issue within two weeks, GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said.

Speaking at a press conference held at the GMOA Headquarters in Colombo, yesterday evening, he said that the GMOA would launch an island-wide strike if the relevant authorities fail to address several issues pointed out by them.

Dr. Aluthge added that the issues are; not solving executive grade salary anomalies, not updating the DAT allowance paid to doctors, not gazetting the minimum standards of medical education, provision of low-quality drugs, severe drug shortage, and the North East doctors’ transfer list issue, he added.
