FR files to stay Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election

Three voters who are eligible to vote for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election today filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court seeking an interim order suspending the operation of gazette notification to hold the election for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabhawa on October 11.

The petitioners further sought an order restraining respondents from holding an election for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha based on the nomination called for in 2017.
