Thewarapperuma, 4 others bailed in forcible burial case

Five suspects including Social Empowerment Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma, who were remanded on charge of forcibly burying a body on private land in violation of a court order, were granted bail by Mathugama Magistrate N.H.H.Halpadeniya yesterday.

They were released on two sureties of Rs.100,000 each.

The suspects were remanded after surrendering to the Mathugama Magistrate’s Court through an Attorney.

The deputy minister had allegedly supervised the burial of the body of an estate worker on private land in Tebuwana disregarding an order issued by the court.
