Pan Asia Bank receives ISO 27001 certification for IT

Sri Lanka’s fastest-growing bank, Pan Asia Bank, was awarded the ISO 27001:2013 certification recently by Bureau Veritas, for adopting and implementing global standards and best practices to ensure the effectiveness, efficiency, confidentiality and integrity of its day-to-day IT operations.

Deputy General Manager – IT, Gerald Wanigarathne, said, “We are happy to have been certified ISO 27001 by Bureau Veritas, as it reflects the importance we attach to information security when it comes to privacy of data as far as our customers are concerned.”

“This certification highlights the Bank’s efforts to comply with local and international regulations regarding data protection, privacy and IT governance, which are key concerns and our foremost priority. According to the audit results of Bureau Veritas, Pan Asia Bank has fully met all the requirements to the information security management system and will continue to do on an ongoing basis.”

The ISO 27001:2013 certification is the highest international benchmark for information security management, and the world’s highest accreditation for information protection and security. The Information Security Management System (ISMS) provides a framework for establishing information security policies, procedures and associated practices, risk assessment and risk treatment, management of information assets, human resources security, operational security, physical and environmental security, communication and operational security, acquisition and maintenance of information systems, information security incident management, vulnerability management, compliance, security in supplier management and business continuity and disaster recovery.
