State Literary Festival on September 12

The 2019 edition of State Literary Awards Ceremony will be held at the BMICH on September 12 at 3 pm under the patronage of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa and President Maithripala Sirisena. The ceremony will recognise the best creative and academic works in Sinhala, Tamil and English mediums. The categories include novel, short stories, poetry, lyrics, drama, teenage literature, juvenile literature, science fiction, cinema and television literature both original and translated.

Besides, senior men of letters in Sinhala, Tamil and English literary fields will be felicitated. Sahitya Special Edition including 50 articles will be launched to coincide with the event. The choreography of Channa Wijewardana and Ravibandu Vidyapathi will adorn the ceremony which is held for 62nd time. The festival is a joint effort of State Literary Advisory Board, Sri Lanka Arts Council, Cultural Affairs Department and Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Ministry.
