Workshop on elders’ rights held

A one-day workshop on elders' rights; jointly organised by the National Secretariat for Elders functioning under Primary Industries and Social Empowerment Ministry, and the Addalaichenai Divisional Secretariat; was held at the at the Oluvil Al-Hamra Maha Vidyalaya main hall, recently.

The event was held under the patronage of Addalaichenai Divisional Secretariat Elders' Rights Officer A.R. Gaise.

Addalaichenai Medical Officer of Health, Dr. A.M. Ismail; East Ceylon Arabic College Principal Moulavi A.L.M. Ashraff; and Addalaichenai Divisional Secretariat Councillor Manoos Aboobakar; spoke on elders' rights and requirements, as well as social responsibilities and healthy lifestyles, at the event.

Senior citizens are a national asset. They have experience and knowledge which can be used for the betterment of the country, Aboobakar said.
