Hatton: 26 children suffer food poisoning

Twenty-six students of Hatton Norwood New Weligama Vocational Training Centre were admitted to the Dikoya Base Hospital with symptoms of food poisoning.

They reportedly fell ill after eating a meal of fried rice with chicken, dhal and chilli paste at a ceremony held at a vocational training centre on Tuesday (10).

The principal of the vocational training centre said that seven boys and 19 girls were admitted to hospital after falling ill after the meal.

A total of 135 students are currently receiving vocational training at this institute which functions under the Vocational Training Authority.

Norwood Police and the Public Health Inspectors are conducting separate investigations into the case.
