Enhancing leadership skills and team building efforts

The 14th Colombo Scout Troop of Wesley College, Colombo, held its 102nd Scouts Junior camp at the Commando Regiment training school, Uva Kudaoya from August 25 to 28.

Wesley College Principal Avanka Fernando together with the organizing committee including Group scout leader Jamith Fernando, Master in charge Sashidaran, and Teacher in charge Shalomi Fernando accompanied with the scout masters Riza Azoor, Deshaka Perera, Salem, Pasindu Ranasinghe and the senior scouters Aquib, Akil, Chamodh, Anuk and Luqman organized the event. The theme of the camp was ‘Beyond All Limits’ and some of the key features of the event was to educate and train the young scouts on leadership and team Building. The lads were able to gain new experiences away from home, improve mutual friendship, to live as a community, provide entertainment, mental satisfaction and physical fitness, cultivate sportsmanship and instill leadership qualities and learn to accept victory and defeat at the event.

Young scouts were given numerous challenges to complete several activities designed by the Sri Lankan Commando Regiment training school with the help of Major R M J K Rajanayake (Course Coordinator). Team building activities, mountain climbing, adventurous hikes, water rafting etc were on offer. A campfire including a enthralling musical show was conducted by the trainers of the camp to develop brotherhood and friendship among the campers.
