Pension for disabled, dependents of deceased post war

The Defence Ministry announced yesterday that the salaries and allowances paid to members of the Tri-Forces and Police who were disabled or who died as a result of direct terrorist acts or while on duty combating terrorism in operational and non-operational areas during the war, up to the age of 55, will be paid, in the case of the disabled, for life, and in the case of the deceased, to their dependents for their lifetime.

In this regard, a sub-committee representing the following Ministries was appointed to study the observations made by other government agencies on the Cabinet Memoranda submitted by the Defence Ministry.

The representative nominated by the Public Administration, Disaster Management and Livestock Management Secretary (Chairman), representative nominated by the Finance Secretary (Member), Director General of Pensions Department (Member) and representative appointed by the Defence Secretary (Convener).

The recommendations of the subcommittee will be submitted to the Cabinet Office enabling it to be presented at the Cabinet Meeting this week.
