‘Concessions to airlines offered by govt., productive’

Airline concessions that are currently been offered and free Visa on arrival policy is a step taken in the right direction by Sri Lanka authorities to promote tourism, said Vice President, Sabri Travel Network Asia Pacific, Todd Arthur.

He said that ‘offerings’ for the airline sector is very attractive and would help woo new airlines to fly to Colombo, while the airlines that are already operating flights to Colombo to add frequency.

“The new tactics to drive tourism such as a free visa on arrival service for 48 countries is welcome.”

“Sri Lanka’s tourism sector also seems to have recovered faster than expected after the Easter Sunday’ blasts as we observe that airline seats are being filled up.”

He also said that Sri Lankan based airlines are expanding its services with new routes to Jaffna and Mattala which would help boost tourism.

The Government has been heavily involved in re launching the tourism sector, announcing enhanced security at airports which has had a major positive impact to travellers to Sri Lanka.

He said that he is in Sri Lanka as part of the official launch of Sabre Red 360, the latest technology innovations for the airline industry.

SABRE GLOBAL second quarter revenue increased to 1.6% and the Travel Network revenue rose 0.7%, with bookings growth of 0.9%.
