Peradeniya Agri University to host iPURSE on Sept. 11, 12

The annual Research Symposium, iPURSE (Peradeniya University International Research Sessions), would be held on September 11 and 12 at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya.

Organized by the University of Peradeniya (UoP), the main theme of iPURSE this year, would be “Together Towards Tomorrow.”

Deputy Vice Chancellor UOP, Prof. S.H.P. Parakrama Karunaratne, said that the annual research done by nine faculties and Post Graduate Institutes would be reviewed and presented to the audience. “This year too, there would be foreign participants, as we have opened this event to them since 2015.”

iPURSE would present the submissions of full papers by undergraduates, graduates, postgraduates, support staff and academics from local and foreign universities, research organizations and elsewhere on the following themes: Science, Technology, Industry and Environmental Culture, Education, Socio-economics and Management, Food, Health and Nutrition.

Chair of the iPURSE Organizing Committee Prof. Ben Basnayake, said that foreign representatives from Japan, China, India and Australia, would participate at the event.

He said that during the last year, there were 600 Research papers, but this year, it had been toned down to 200, as only high standard of Research papers would be presented.

Research is very important for a country to progress and systems would be explored to implement some of the research with the assistance of the authorities.

Dean, Faculty of Agriculture Prof. D.K.N.G. Pushpakumara, said that they are the hosts for the event this year. “Under difficult conditions, we have displayed great team work towards making this event a success.”

“Since we are the organizing faculty of iPURSE - 2019, the role of Faculty of Agriculture would be highlighted at the event.”

Hosting of the pre-event workshops, exhibitions, seminars and conferences on specific themes, would also be held during the event along with parallel workshops and an exhibition at the symposium. These are to display new products, processes, services, creative work by the UoP, other Universities, Professional Organizations, Institutions, Individuals, Industries and Government Agencies.

Chair of the Editorial Committee – iPURSE 2019, Prof. N.A.A.S.P. Nissanka, would look be looking to publish the research so that they would be picked up and used productively. “We will introduce research to be presented at iPURSE 2019 under each theme.”

Financial support awaits for selected full papers to be published in high impact indexed journals.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Sri Lanka and Maldives Joanne Doornewaard would be the Chief Guest.
