Hotline to fulfil pharmaceutical needs

The Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Ministry has introduced a hotline, ‘Medi Call’ (076-6474777) to all State health institutions to inform if there is any requirement of life-saving drugs and emergency drugs, the Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the hotline is being operated round the clock, 365 days by the main office of the Medical Supplies Division of the Health Ministry.

Two pharmacists attached to the Medical Supplies Division (MSD) and the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) are available to respond to any queries. Any state health institution can contact them through the hotline for their drug requirements,” he said.

“First, the analysed information will be passed to the SPC pharmacist by the MSD pharmacist. Then, the time of arrival of emergency or life-saving drug to the specific location will be informed to the caller,” he said.

“Health officials assured that there is no drug shortage in the country at the moment and the new hotline would make sure that no drug shortage occurs in the future. Only high-quality drugs will be issued to people,” he added.
