Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera yesterday informed the Elections Commission that the party will field a candidate for the upcoming presidential poll.
According to SLFP spokesman Weerakumara Dissanayake, the SLFP Central Committee had taken a decision that the party should field its candidate for the upcoming Presidential Poll.
“Party General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera conveyed its decision to the Elections Commission yesterday,” he said.
Dissanayake added that the party will take a decision who will be its presidential hopeful and how party is going to face the election and other issues in due course.However, he said discussions with the SLPP is also going on. “The discussion with the SLPP continues unabated, despite this decision.
