The Registration of Persons Department will open its provincial office in Galle tomorrow, constructed at a cost of Rs 450 million.

The provincial office will be able to issue up to 1,000 NICs daily through its One-Day Service. The Southern Provincial Office is being initiated under the Decentralization Programme of the Registration of Persons Department and will provide a wide range of services. All arrangements have been made to commence the first phase of the programme of handing over of Identity Cards to provincial offices under the One-Day Service.

This will enable the people of the Southern Province to forward their duly-filled applications to obtain identity cards under the normal service.
