Nod for new laws to implement waste management policy

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal made by the Mahaweli Development and Environment Minister on the formulation of laws and regulations for the successful implementation of the draft National Policy on Waste Management (NPWM).

The NPWM has been drafted after identifying common but differentiated responsibilities of all parties towards waste management. All types of solid, liquid and gaseous waste have been included in this draft policy.
