Health Minister attends regional WHO confab in India

Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne is taking part in the 72nd Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South East Asia in New Delhi, India from September 2 to 6, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

Minister Senaratne is the Deputy President of the committee.

“Health Ministers and health experts from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, North Korea and Timor Leste will take part in the event,” he said.

“The Health Ministers will discuss the steps taken by their countries to control the spread of various diseases in the region and the progress they have made,” the Health Ministry spokesman added.

Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe is also representing Sri Lanka at the session.
