Permanency for mosquito control field assistants

Arrangements will be made soon for the permanency of all 1,500-mosquito control field assistants permanent under the directions of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, Minister Senaratne has instructed relevant officials to include the allowance of Rs. 2,500 paid to them into their monthly salaries from this month. The Minister held a special discussion with them recently.

“In 2017, a total of 500 mosquito control field assistants were recruited from all parts of the island and later, another 1,000 were recruited which increased the total number to 1,500. They are attached to MOH offices. They work hard to control dengue in the country,” he said.

“The mosquito control field assistants praised Minister Senaratne for solving their burning issues,” he added.
